Lhasa Apsos have a very beautiful coat. The breed's coat is long and heavy. This double-coated dog is a beauty of any neighborhood. The breed resembles the Old English Sheepdog. However, it is smaller in size and has characteristics of its own. The Lhasa Apso have a variety of coat colors. Gold, cream, and honey are considered the most popular colors. Other coat colors are smoke, dark-grizzle, slate, and a combination of brown, white, and black.
The dog's coat should not be silky. The hair is straight and falls from the head onto the eyes. What is peculiar for the Lhasa Apso is that it has a beard and mustache. The eyes are set deeply. The Lhasa Apso carries the tail over the back.
Lhasa Apsos are the favorites of city dwellers. Its small size allows the dog to be kept indoors. Males are usually 10-11 inches at the withers. They weigh about 13-15 pounds. Females are smaller.

Lhasa Apsos - Temperament
The Lhasa Apso is said to be one of the most affectionate breeds. Its main function is that of a companion. Like no other breed does the Lhasa Apso express its devotion and love for the owner. However, the breed has dual temperament. Most Lhasa Apsos have a mind of their own. They like to have everything in their own way. The breed needs early socialization and training.
The Lhasa Apso is a mellow companion for the whole family. This does not prevent the dog from being wary of strangers. However, this tendency should never grow into aggression. To avoid this, Lhasa Apsos should be obedience trained from an early age.
