If you cannot buy dogs or puppies of breeding quality, adopt a dog from the rescues.
They are great family pets, but can be willful and noisy. They are intolerant of abusive or indiscreet handling, and are not recommended for families with young children. They should not be trusted with unfamiliar dogs and are usually suspicious of strangers.

These canines are very active indoors and do okay without acreage. They have a very long and harsh coat that requires daily grooming in order to prevent tangling and matting. This is a very long-lived and healthy animal, and some species can live 18 years. If you cannot buy dogs or puppies of breeding quality, adopt a dog from the rescues.
